Nestled in the heart of Thorndon Quay, Beds on Thorndon stands as a beacon of quality and comfort in the realm of bedding and furniture.

With a history spanning over two decades, we’ve recently embarked on an exciting new chapter, emerging as an independent entity.

While the names on the beds may change, our steadfast commitment to impeccable service, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering focus on New Zealand-made craftsmanship remains at the core of our ethos.

Experience an expertly selected range of the finest beds and furniture, all underscored by our promise of the best everyday pricing.

We all love a deal, but if you’ve ever shopped for bedroom furniture, you may have asked yourself, why are there so many beds with 50 to 60 percent discounts being sold? In most cases, the ‘half price’ is really the true price of the bed, so here’s some things you should keep in mind to make sure you get the best value for your money.

Talk to the salespeople in each shop, ask the hard questions, and compare the information that you get to ensure you’re choosing the right mattress for your body and lifestyle. As you try more beds, form a shortlist of ones you found most comfortable. Is the spring system zoned or layered? What comfort layers does the mattress have on top of the springs?

Wool, silk, bamboo, latex, or memory foam? Is your preference soft, medium, or firm? Is the mattress imported? If so, after-sales service may be an issue unless the importer has repair equipment in New Zealand. Finally, it comes down to price. You will likely find that the specifications and comfort level of the half-price bed in one shop easily matches the full-price bed in another shop at a comparable price.

At the end of the day, we spend a third of our lives in bed, so don’t rush this decision. It’s important you get the right bed for you so you can sleep well and feel energised throughout the day. Don’t buy the half-price bed simply because you think you are getting a bargain, because you just might not be.

You can’t get a proper rest and maintain your health if your bedroom is not a relaxing sleep inducing place to be.

Non sleep activities (home office, snack bar, TV room, laptop, phone beside the bed) are not helpful when you need to relax before falling asleep.

  • Keep the room as dark as possible.
  • Keep the room at a comfortable temperature. It is difficult to sleep if you are too hot or too cold.
  • Keep noise to a minimum.
  • Make sure that you have a comfortable mattress. Because you sleep on your mattress every night the fact that it is starting to wear out can creep up un noticed.
  • Never bring work into the bedroom ie laptops & phones. Blue light discourages sleep
  • Don’t watch TV in the bedroom
  • Keep a note pad beside the bed. If you remember something as you are falling asleep, jot it down. That way you will not be lying awake thinking about it and hoping that you will remember it when you wake up in the morning.

All the best brands at honest, everyday prices.

DECADES OF EXPERTISE

Beds On Thorndon Shopfront

After more than 10 years as Bedstop, we have decided that it is time to do our own thing and become an independent bed shop.
The Bedstop name has changed to Beds on Thorndon. However the people and the brands that we stock have remained the same. Perhaps with more of a bias to our local Wellington market. We are still a local family owned business that prefers to sell New Zealand made Mattresses, Bases & Slat frames.

As you can see we have developed a new web site. The aim of this “Beds on Thorndon” web site is to give you plenty of information about beds and sleep to help you to choose the right bed. This will differ from most other bed shop websites who seem to only focus on offering massive 50-60% discounts every month.

CONSISTENT VALUE

Our commitments at Beds on Thorndon are simple;

* BEST EVERYDAY PRICES – we always sell at our best prices. You will not have to wait for the next “50-60%” off sale to pay the correct price when you buy a bed at Beds on Thorndon.

* WORLD LEADING BRANDS – we stock the best brands which means that we offer the latest sleep technology and quality.

*NEW ZEALAND MADE – we like to concentrate on and sell New Zealand made beds.

*ACCURATE DELIVERY TIMES – we will quote accurate delivery times if your bed is not in stock. If it is going to take 6 weeks we will tell you.

*EX STOCK DELIVERY – we have most of our queen sized beds and a range of frames in stock. If you need a bed quickly you will not have to wait for your purchase to be made and delivered from the factory.

Split & Zip

All Domino mattresses can be split and fitted with a zip. This means that you have the option of two separate beds which can then be zipped together to form one bed. This works best with King, Super King & California King sized mattresses.

If you have a partner who is a restless sleeper, having two mattresses zipped together is a sure way of eliminating transmission of disturbance across the mattress.
